Times Square: New Year’s Eve 2018

Spread the love

Hey guys, it’s Jude checking in. I had to go and meet with a speeding ticket attorney in NYC earlier today for a citation I got a few weeks back, but on my way back from their office, I ended up near Times Square and I kept thinking about what a fantastic time we had there this past New Year’s Eve.

Have you ever been to NYC for the ball drop? It’s seriously a good time, and it occurred to me that the other guys and I are so busy with work sometimes that we never told you about our New Years. We had the time of our lives, as always, and New Year’s Eve 2018 was a night to remember.

Our Dinner at Gabriel Kreuther

So Gabriel Kreuther is this fantastic restaurant that’s right near Times Square, and since the guys and I wanted to be close by early in the day for the ball drop, Gabriel Kreuther was our pick for a delicious dinner.

This place is significantly more sophisticated than we are used to attending, but their French cuisine is top notch and highly recommended by the locals. For New Year’s Eve, Gabriel Kreuther only does a 5pm dinner and an 8pm dinner so we caught the 8pm seating so that we could head to Times Square for the kickoff to end 2018.

Snoop Dogg Takes the Stage

By far the best part of the night was Snoop Dogg’s performance. He started a little bit before 10:30 pm, and I was really hoping he was gonna play “Gin & Juice,” but instead he performed “Drop It Like It’s Hot,” and I guess you can’t really complain about what song an iconic rapper is going to play when you’re in the middle of Times Square on New Year’s Eve. Something about the crowd singing along as we prepared to bring in the new year . . . I don’t think there’s anything that compares to it.

The New Year’s Eve Ball Drop

They actually start raising the ball at around 6 pm, so by the time we were at the Snoop Dogg performance, we couldn’t leave our spot, as we had a perfect (albeit crowded) view of the ball drop. At exactly one minute before the New Year, the ball began to descend and we started off another year, still a bunch of goofballs looking to have a good time.
